I’ll give credit where credit is due. Squarespace was onto something when they said, “ It all started with an idea”. It felt so applicable that I ran with it to inspire this post. So yes, this site started with an idea. However, the idea is quite different and while I haven’t given up on it, I decided to start with this instead. Writing always felt natural in a way, I was just never quite sure what to say. That is until I stopped overthinking it.

The idea has always been about cultivating a creative space, an outlet for myself as a form of self love. While that feels almost vulnerable to say, what are these posts if not my emotions on my sleeve (or paper so to speak). So, I’ll own it. I’d like to think many people understand that feeling. It’s so easy now days to think of all the artistic creators on platforms like TikTok or Instagram who too are showing their creativity. They too started with just one idea.

If I had to pick a point in all this it’s that you just need to begin. I’ve heard phrases like that time and time again and always thought yeah, yeah, I know. As if it would be easy but the roads I was going down weren’t. It’s not that I’m afraid to work hard, but admittedly it felt like a passion project should come more naturally. Maybe there is naivty in that and I’m open to that reality becase I certainly am not all knowing, but as I noted above, this form of expresison does feel more natural, a bit easier, and for that, it made starting feel less daunting.

Things will never begin in a perfect state. They may never get to perfect. Perfection isn’t the goal but progress and consistency are so long as you enjoy what you’re putting your time towards. It is hard to show up for yourself day in and day out. There can be wins in the smallest of things, so let your creative outlet be something you enjoy that lights up your imagination even just a little. You deserve that. We all do.
